Position: Sr. Flash Engineer
Location: Boston

The Senior Flash Engineer position at Adroit Interactive will be responsible for developing new functionality and maintaining existing functionality for the client facing Flash tools and the backend Flash indexing processes. Extremely deep knowledge of Flash is required. You must understand all elements that Flash touches ­ everything from ActionScript down to the binary format itself ­ and be interested in pushing the current limits of the technology. A qualified candidate must be able to work with product managers and business owners to determine technical requirements for new features and provide several implementation options that vary the amount of time and effort to complete.

The SFE must be comfortable working within an agile development team and have the ability to provide accurate estimates to complete tasks. These estimates ensure that the 2 - 3 week development cycle is maintained while delivering the business the features needed in a timely fashion.

Core Duties / Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and bug fixing on existing applications.
  
• Work with architects and business users to determine technical requirements for new features
  
• Write unit tests against completed code
  
• Maintain/expand functionality of online Flash customization tool
  
• Develop functionality to generate dynamic Flash movies

What Were Looking For:

• Experience working with Subversion - branching, merging and tagging
  
• BSCS or equivalent experience
  
• Experience writing software against the Flash version 8 specification
  
• Experience building sophisticated Flash applications
  
• Expertise manipulating Flash movies with tools such as JSwif, TransformSWF, or equivalent APIs that manipulate Flash format
  
• Linux, Java, C, MySQL, HTTP, JavaScript, (X)HTML, ActionScript 1,2,3
  
• 5+ years software development
  
• Must be detail-oriented and through in design, coding and testing.
  
• Good oral and written communication skills.
  
• Proven ability to work well as part of an engineering team.
  
• Proven ability to track to aggressive schedules and produce quality deliverables on time.
  
• Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ruby experience
  
• Ruby on Rails experience
  
• Experience with Agile software development.
